The Executive Director of Township Leasing is an Independent Statutory Office Holder established in 2007 through amendments to the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The Executive Director’s primary role is to manage and administer Township Leases over Aboriginal communities, or ‘Townships’ in the Northern Territory.
The Office of Township Leasing is the Executive Director’s administrative office that assists to manage the Township Leases for the economic benefit of the communities’ Traditional Owners and residents.
