The Office of Township Leasing

The position of Executive Director Township Leasing is established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 and began on 1 July 2007. The primary role of the Executive Director is to hold long term leases over Aboriginal townships in the Northern Territory for the Australian Government and the respective Aboriginal Land Council and Land Trust. The Executive Director also holds leases for other purposes, such as housing, over Aboriginal land in the Northern Territory. 

The Executive Director Township Leasing is an independent statutory office holder who works with communities to ensure that the township lease is managed effectively and provides a real benefit to the Aboriginal traditional owners and the community generally.
 
The position of Executive Director is currently held by Mr Greg Roche
