The Office of Township Leasing

The position of Executive Director, Township Leasing has been established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 and came into effect on 1 July 2007. The Executive Director holds long term leases over aboriginal townships in the Northern Territory on behalf of the Australian government and the respective Aboriginal Land Council and Land Trust.

The Executive Director, Township Leasing is an independent statutory office holder who works with communities to ensure that the township lease is managed effectively and provides a real benefit to the community.
